I had a killer time in Harrisonburg this weekend for the Shamrock Alleycat on Friday, sponsored by
Everyday Bikes!, a community bike project started by some people affiliated with
New Community Project,
Our Community Place, and others to "promote sustainable transportation, healthy living, and empower low-income people."
Jason and I teamed up against Harrisonburg's best and most colorfully dressed for a night of hills, 20° weather, and a scavenger hunt almost impossible to do drunk, and in the end got some pretty sweet prizes. Not knowing where the hell we were, and with no help from our friend George (jk, thanks Doomwizard!), we got the DFL prize: two Sparks, a mini bottle of whiskey, and a pair of toe straps. Wes got word of my fall, where I rode too close to some railroad tracks, and I was given the Best Crash prize, another Sparks, bottle of whiskey, and a pair of gloves.
Thanks Wes, Jeff, Everyday Bikes!, and everyone else involved in making this weekend so awesome!
